As far back as 1930, the Roodthooft candy factory, with its iconic "arabierekes" signboard, was housed in the factory premises on Lange Leemstraat. The original butter factory was built in 1905 and consists of several red-brick buildings on the inner area and an ornate office and residential building on the street side. These buildings form the core of the redevelopment of the entire site.

The entire site will be a mix of office and residential units combined with greenery and open spaces.
